We provide assessment, diagnosis, and ongoing management of adult ADHD via telehealth. This includes prescribing and monitoring of ADHD medications within state and federal prescribing regulations.
At Elite Focus, we specialise exclusively in the diagnosis and treatment of ADHD. This is our clinical focus and area of expertise.
We also recognise that ADHD rarely exists in isolation. Many individuals with ADHD experience overlapping challenges such as autism spectrum traits, OCD, anxiety, depression, insomnia, and executive dysfunction. Additionally, hormonal shifts—particularly perimenopause, menopause, PMS and PMDD—can significantly impact ADHD symptoms, especially for women and people assigned female at birth.
While we do not formally diagnose or treat these associated conditions, some of our clinicians have special interests in areas like sleep, hormonal health, and neurodivergent presentations. Where appropriate, they may offer recommendations to discuss with your regular GP or treating team.
That said, some co-occurring conditions are too complex to safely assess or manage in a virtual ADHD clinic. If you are experiencing challenges such as:
• Severe bipolar disorder
• Schizophrenia or psychosis
• Drug dependence
• Major depression with suicidality
• Severe panic disorder
…then Elite Focus may not be the right fit for your care. These conditions deserve comprehensive, face-to-face psychiatric support, and we strongly recommend seeking a specialist service equipped to meet those needs.
Our goal is to provide safe, ethical, and emotionally attuned ADHD care—and part of that is knowing when a different setting is better suited to your situation
No referral is necessary. At Elite Focus, we've streamlined the process so all you need to do is book your initial appointment online.
In medical terms, an adult is considered to be between the ages of 18-60 years of age.
Outside of these age groups, there are special considerations to be made for ongoing health concerns.
As such, there are sub-specialty areas of both psychiatry and medicine that specifically deal with people within these age categories.
Unfortunately, Elite Focus does not have the capacity to provide these services to these age groups.
We apologise for the inconvenience and recommend you seek out assistance with a paediatrician if you are under the age of 18 or a psycho-geriatrician if you are over the age of 60 years old.
With decades of experience and careful consideration, we have streamlined our process to include only what you need.
We provide a clear ADHD diagnosis and promptly initiate first-line management when appropriate.
This ensures you receive the necessary care quickly and efficiently, without any unnecessary hassle.
No, Elite Focus doctors do not provide detailed psychological-style reports. Unlike psychologists, medical doctors (including GPs and psychiatrists) do not prepare narrative reports after each consultation. When you pay for your consultation, you are paying for a medical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment plan — not a written report.
We do provide the following:
We DO NOT provide the following reports:
We understand that many of our patients come to us with a previous ADHD diagnosis — whether from childhood, adulthood, or after completing a psychology assessment. Some may have even tried medication before. This history is always useful for our doctors to know and will be considered.
However, under AHPRA regulations, doctors are not permitted to prescribe stimulant medications without conducting their own formal assessment. This applies even if you have been prescribed ADHD medication by another doctor in the past.
At Elite Focus, every patient must go through the full assessment process, which includes:
Only once this process is complete can our psychiatrists initiate and authorise prescribing, which will then be continued by your Elite Focus ADHD doctors through the Elite Focus Clinic.
We know this can feel repetitive if you’ve already been diagnosed, but it ensures your care is safe, compliant, and individually appropriate. These steps are mandatory for all patients so we can build a clear medical profile and provide the highest standard of treatment.
If this process doesn’t suit your needs, you are welcome to explore other services. Please see our Terms of Service for more detail.
At Elite Focus, we provide evidence-based, medication-focused treatment for ADHD, guided by Australian prescribing standards and PBS regulations. All treatment decisions are made collaboratively, with a focus on safety, effectiveness, and patient goals.
First-line medications (stimulants)
These are the most commonly prescribed and well-supported evidence-based treatments for ADHD:
• Methylphenidate
• Dexamphetamine
• Lisdexamfetamine
Second-line medications (non-stimulants)
• Atomoxetine
• Guanfacine
Third-line or adjunctive options (off-label)
These may be considered in complex or treatment-resistant cases, often with shared care:
• Modafinil
• Agomelatine
• Lamotrigine
These third-line options are not first-line ADHD treatments and are generally considered off-label. They may be used in specific contexts, often in combination with other first line treatments.
ADHD treatment is not a one size fits all condition. Often, it is more complex than most people realise and the use of more than one medication is required for some people to achieve benefits. Our doctors are specifically trained in diverse treatment options, providing an Elite difference in your ADHD management.
For more information on evidence based prescribing and pharmacological treatments for ADHD please visit https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10363932/
Elite Focus is a medication-focused ADHD clinic, and we do not formally provide psychological therapies such as CBT, ADHD coaching, or occupational therapy. However, our clinicians often adapt principles from these models—including executive function strategies, emotional regulation tools, and psychoeducation—into everyday treatment plans.
If you're seeking structured non-medication support, we can recommend excellent ADHD-informed therapists and allied health professionals upon request.
We believe in collaborative care and will always support you in building a team that fits your needs
No—Mental Health Care Plans must be completed by your regular GP at an accredited general practice clinic, as per Medicare guidelines.
Under the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS), only medical practitioners working within an accredited general practice setting can initiate a MHCP for psychology services. This includes the completion of a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan (MBS item 2715 or 2717), which is required to access subsidised sessions with a psychologist.
Elite Focus is a specialist ADHD clinic and not a general practice clinic. While our clinicians may discuss psychological support options with you, we cannot initiate or manage MHCPs. We recommend speaking with your regular GP, who can assess your broader mental health needs and coordinate care accordingly.
For more information, you can refer to the MBS guidelines on GP Mental Health Treatment Plans via Services Australia.
ADHD is a neuro-developmental condition that impacts on concentration/focus, restlessness and impulsiveness. Sometimes people only have problems with focus/concentration without the hyperactivity or impulsiveness, this is sometimes referred to ADD – or ADHD inattentive type.
The treatment for ADD and ADHD is the same. ADD is really just a sub-category of ADHD, not a different condition. Half to three quarters of children with ADHD grow out of the condition, but a significant proportion of people continue throughout their life with ongoing features of ADHD.
Adult ADHD simply refers to ADHD/ADD that continues into adulthood, whether it was diagnosed in childhood or newly recognised for the first time in adulthood. When diagnosed or recognised in adulthood, even if it hasn’t always been a major issue causing distress or impairment, the pattern of ADHD/ADD will track back into childhood.
Yes—while ADHD medications can be life-changing for many, they’re not suitable for everyone. Certain health conditions can make stimulant or non-stimulant treatments risky or inappropriate. These include heart problems, severe anxiety or panic disorders, psychosis, bipolar disorder, active substance dependence, and major depression with suicidality. In these cases, medication may worsen symptoms or pose safety concerns.
At Elite Focus, we take these risks seriously. Our clinicians will always assess your individual situation with care, however, if they feel you have anything that may compromise your safety, a face-to-face specialist if your needs are more complex. This isn’t a dismissal—it’s about making sure you receive the safest, most appropriate support for your whole wellbeing.
If you feel you're having an abnormal or concerning response to your medication, stop taking it immediately. ADHD medications are not life-sustaining treatments and can be safely paused at any time.
If your symptoms do not improve within 24 hours, or if they worsen, please seek urgent medical care via your nearest Urgent Care service or Emergency Department. You can contact:
Once you're safe and stable, please book a follow-up appointment via HotDoc to review your treatment and discuss whether ongoing or alternative options are appropriate.
Your wellbeing is our priority—and we’re here to support you through any unexpected reactions.
This can occur within a few days but no longer than 2 weeks maximum wait time. Most patients can be seen within a week.
The psychiatrist appointment can be within a few days of your initial appointment depending on your schedule. We have worked hard to streamline the process with information collected via electronic forms which are shared with the Elite Focus Team ahead of your appointment. This makes the process efficient.
Appointments can be rescheduled or cancelled online through HotDoc up to 48 hours before your booking. Cancellations within 24 hours may incur a fee.
Some appointments, such as appointments with the psychiatrist’s, cannot be booked or cancelled via hotdoc. For these appointments, please email or text the clinic for assistance with this.
If you have any difficulty cancelling your appointment, please contact the clinic directly.
You can book all other appointments using the hot doc platform via your own personalised login. The Elite Focus administrative staff cannot book appointments other than those with the psychiatrists on your behalf.
In order for Elite Focus to work efficiently and to maintain a streamlined service, we do not allow patients to book this appointment online.
You are able to book your initial consultation with the Elite Focus special interest doctors service online and move or rebook any of your GP appointments via the online Hot Doc appointment system.
Please be aware that psychiatrist appointment fees are collected prior to the consultation. If this payment is not made in the 24 hours prior to the scheduled appointment time, this will be cancelled.
You will first meet with an ADHD special interest doctor who will perform a medical screening consultation. If appropriate, you will then be booked with one of our psychiatrists for your assessment. Ongoing care will then be managed by your Elite Focus doctor, under psychiatrist oversight. You can choose which ever doctor you want to book with either online or on request.
You may change your ongoing appointments to be undertaken by any of our doctors, providing they have availability. Our clinic allows you to see any of the doctors within the clinic as they all share oversight of the Elite Focus patients.
You can only choose doctors working at the Elite Focus clinic as we do not work with doctors to facilitate prescribing outside of the Elite Focus clinic.
No. All clinical consultations are by phone via our secure VOIP system. A consultation is mandatory for any script to be sent to a patient under any circumstances. For admin queries, you may email using our communications platform via the website.
All forms are sent electronically and must be completed online before your first appointment.
If you have not received the forms prior to your appointment – please email us so that we can resend these forms to you or message us via the contact us link on the website.
Our clinic focuses exclusively on adult ADHD. If you need care outside of this scope, we will refer you to an appropriate service.
Follow-ups are booked through HotDoc or directly via your ADHD doctor at the end of each appointment.
No. Our clinic is for adults only (18+).
You may request a referral to another psychiatrist or clinic for a second opinion at any time, this is your prerogative.
We cannot write you a referral to another psychiatrist, and we do not write a letter to your GP.
You must organise this yourself so that there is no conflict of interest.
Elite Focus has a 24-hour cancellation policy for all initial and follow up consultations. If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please do so at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a cancellation fee.
Psychiatry diagnosis appointments (Step 2) must be cancelled 48 hours in advance. Also, if payment is not received prior to 48 hours of your scheduled appointment time, the appointment will be cancelled by the clinic, and you will need to contact the clinic to reschedule.
This allows us to keep the clinic waiting times streamlined.
For full details, please refer to our Terms of Service.
Missed appointments are charged in full. Repeated non-attendance may result in discharge from the clinic. All appointments that are not cancelled prior to 24 hours before your appointment time, will still be charged.
All appointments at Elite Focus are scheduled in New South Wales (NSW) time. Appointment confirmations and reminders will reflect NSW time only. If you're located in another state, please take a moment to adjust for your local time zone to ensure you're available at the correct time.
Diagnosis psychiatrist assessments usually take 50 minutes; the psychiatrist has undertaken review and assessment of your paperwork prior to your appointment to minimise you having to take valuable time out of your day.
Follow-ups with your Elite Focus special interest clinicians typically take 15–20 minutes.
No video login is required. Please be ready to answer your phone at your scheduled time. Ensure your phone line is available and unblocked.
Yes. Please advise our team of your preferred name and pronouns and we will update your records accordingly. All scripts must be written in your legal name.
Unfortunately, sometimes our doctors do run late, as can be the case in any medical clinic, and we appreciate your patience in these instances.
For delays longer than 30 minutes, we will reschedule your appointment at no additional costs to you. We will try to call you if we have not been able to get a hold of you multiple times, before we give up. We will send you an email and will leave a voicemail to let you know we have called and the processes for rebooking.
Please note, that if we call you within the 15 minutes of your appointment time, and you do not answer, and we have attempted multiple times, we will also send you an email to let you know we have not been able to reach you. In this instance, the appointment is not rebooked and is considered to be forfeited by the patient. There will not be a refund for the consultation in these instances.
We do ask that you double check that the phone number that you have listed on HotDoc is the correct number. Sometimes if you are booking under another person's HotDoc account, this may import the wrong phone number, so please be aware of this.
No - Elite Focus is a private, user-pays clinic. All fees are out-of-pocket and must be paid at the time of booking.
No - Elite Focus does not use Medicare item numbers, as this allows our doctors to provide more flexible and higher-quality ADHD care without the need for a face-to-face consultation. Medicare rebates are not a mandatory community entitlement — it is at the discretion of the doctor whether to use them.
This is similar to how medicinal cannabis clinics or cosmetic clinics operate — they provide specialist care that is not covered by Medicare rebates.
Private health funds do not pay for out-of-pocket expenses attributed to medical doctors.
Insurance benefits are only available to some allied health providers via private health insurance excess schemes, but this is not available for consultation with any medical professionals.
Please review the link below in relation to "what private health insurance covers"
https://www.health.gov.au/topics/private-health-insurance/what-private-health-insurance-covers
Payment is processed securely through HotDoc.
A payment request link will be sent to you prior to your appointment as an SMS.
HotDoc will hold a credit card through their system, but you are able to use a different card or account to make payment via the SMS link sent to your phone.
For all follow up appointments, you will receive a payment link 48 hours prior to the appointment.
For all psychiatrist appointments, you will receive a payment link immediately after your initial screening consultation has been completed if your psychiatris appointment is booked.
If you have not paid for your initial screening appointment, an appointment with the psychiatrist will not be booked.
If the payment for the ADHD diagnosis with the psychiatrist has not been received 48 hours prior to the time of the psychiatry consultation, the appointment with the doctor will be cancelled.
You will be able to rebook later when you are able to complete the payment process. The consultation must be paid for prior to the psychiatrist consultation as these are long appointments. By cancelling patients who are not able to commit to this appointment we are able to offer this appointment time to another patient.
This is not intended to be dismissive but instead allows us to keep a streamlined process with limited wait times.
For those patients whose psychiatrist assessment is cancelled – you can reschedule at a later date but you will need to email and liaise with the reception team so they can offer you a new appointment time.
This is available in full on the website here.
Please note that there is a fee for each appointment you have. This is not a one-time only fee.
No—scripts can only be issued during a valid appointment. This applies even if you've lost your prescription or run out unexpectedly. ADHD medications are tightly regulated, and prescribing requires a current clinical review. Please book via HotDoc to ensure safe and compliant care.
Elite Focus is a 100% telehealth clinic. All consultations are conducted by phone; no physical attendance is required.
No. We operate entirely online. All communication and consultations occur via secure VOIP and digital platforms.

Understand that misrepresentation or misuse may result in immediate discharge.
Prescriptions are sent electronically to your phone via SMS or to your email.
No. Our scope is limited to ADHD management only. Some scripts can be managed by our doctors if deemed appropriate on a case-by-case basis and if related directly to ADHD associated conditions. For other conditions, please see your usual GP.
Replacement requests are reviewed by the Medical Director. You will need an additional consultation to write a new script for any lost medications.
No—all medication changes require a valid appointment, even if you've recently seen your doctor or no longer feel the current medication is working for you. This includes dose adjustments, switching medications, or stopping treatment and starting a new medication.
ADHD medications are tightly regulated, and any change must be reviewed clinically as all scripts need to be processed via an approval authority number through the appropriate prescribing channels. Please book a follow-up appointment via HotDoc to discuss any concerns or adjustments.
No—prescriptions written in Australia can only be dispensed within Australia. This is true in all countries: doctors must be registered with the local medical board to prescribe medication that can be legally filled there. Our clinicians are registered to practise in Australia only, so we cannot issue prescriptions for use in other countries.
If you're living overseas and need ongoing ADHD treatment, we recommend connecting with a local service or GP who can assess your needs and prescribe safely under your new country’s regulations.
No.
At Elite Focus, all your ADHD care stays within our clinic.
Psychiatrists are legally responsible for any doctor who prescribes under their authority. This means they must personally know and trust the doctor they are supervising. It also means they discuss each patient with the doctors who are prescribing under their supervision and authority. Because of this:
If you are diagnosed with ADHD at Elite Focus, your prescriptions and ongoing care will always be managed by our team.
At Elite Focus, your care remains uninterrupted—even if your treating doctor moves on. As long as your medication is prescribed within our clinic, you will always be able to access care.
Some other clinics use a “transfer of care” or “291” model, where your GP takes over prescribing after a psychiatrist’s assessment. This approach relies on a specific report sent to your GP and typically requires a new referral and updated letter every 12 to 24 months.
Our ADHD Model of Care is designed to offer stability, safety, and simplicity. It ensures you only pay for what’s necessary, while keeping your treatment consistent—no matter which clinician is supporting you
